How to wash used media thoroughly

Anyone has experiences with the above topic? Care to share?
I have some used media like cr, k1, bioball, etc. If I intend to do a thorough washing to kill all good or bad bacteria, and to dry them and to keep them in the store for future use, how to wash them thoroughly?
I have no experience with it. Generally, do I have to soak them in hot water or use some conditioners or dry them under the sun?
TIA

I just on the heater to wash my bioballs and medias put under the sun to dry it up.
>Boil hot water and pour it over the medias and all bacteria wipe out
>Boiling in hot water, drying it(open air) then keep in plastic, dun know if theres a need to have conditioner, I think its unnecessary.
Buying another pot for your media will save some arguments, cause the missy might freak out.
Cheers
And Happy New Year.
>Thank you for sharing bros ... guess boiling or using hot water to wash them is the method
>When I do a system overhaul, like I am doing now, not my first time though, I will take all media out, wash them in pails of boiling water then re-cycle my entire tank again. Like that all parasites, parasite eggs or what not all will be cooked lol. A very good system reset based on experience. I do this once every 2 years

>Hot water will kills both good and bad bacteria unless have foul smell than can do that.
Just my sharing.

>Originally Posted by Bruce bioball Bro Bruce, paiseh, I think I missed this part of your original post really sorry. For my bio-balls in my overflow chamber, I will wash them in tap water first, then open them up to expose the little black cube sponge sandwiched in it. Then again will wash the sponge thoroughly in tap water to remove what ever little dirt that is trapped in it. Only after this, I will throw everything, the black cube sponge and the bio-balls, now opened to two halves into hot boiling water to cook which I will drain after a while. Then air dry for about a whole day before I put everything back to be re-used.
Sorry for the very late reply
